Fatal Dalliance

panic for the dying

don’t panic for the dying

the dying are dying still

and the steps in the ground from the path that was walked over and over yesterday and the remainder of the days before lay covered again and again perhaps to be stepped again and

we ran as fast as the shoes allowed the feet the trouble the heartache the dance the chances the doubt

and the filling of hearts the lost parts and their connected stains

the pain remains all the same while
it rains down on the cost

lost in translation
paced laced in collars white in vain

stung and wrung in the right ways
raced until we’re paced until we stop running

stunning views drew a set of arms to their end

fend

before we bend the rules

and the dents become visible
