awe
the tv screen blasts a hazy buzz of light into today’s eyes
no one screams
no one looks in disbelief or griefs
all the horror locked inside the box of mayhem
teddy bears
all the same to what we all once had
something to hold onto
neatly laid on the bed
we all left at some point
and never returned to
who made us peek through sad windows
and normalize
pain with all its remainders
to refrain from days untouched
with hands left uncovered
and pearls left unwanted
from the very beginning
