connection
loneliness is walking out of a room
knowing you’ll never see it again
then wondering what it looked like right after
it is mothers leaving babies
and columns discussing love
but only within the possibilities of the blind
it is air brushing past your face
feeling like it never wanted to touch you
even though it whispered along the right sight of your cheek
it’s a woman singing songs to strangers
in her bedroom
wondering why they would start weeping some time around the second verse
it’s pink skies
flying by as we recognise them
reminding us of what we’re missing on an average day
it’s knowing how to touch someone
while knowing not to reach them
and lovingly telling them we do
